WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH MY LIFE?
74What am I going to be when I grow up?
Ever wonder what path you are suppose to take for your life?
I know I have. I used to be really confused when it came to what I should do with my life.
I was in my thirties and still asking, "What do I want to be when I grow up?". Even though I was already a pastor, wife, mother, business woman, I still had questions on what I should do. How about you?
I'm turning "50" in April and I finally feel like I know what I'm suppose to do. That doesn't mean I know exactly how it's going to look, but I have a direction. How did I get that revelation?
My turn-around was when I started to say "The Lord directs my steps", instead of always saying "I don't know what I'm suppose to do".
I found the Scripture in Proverbs 3:5 that says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding, v-6 In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths."
After reading it I realized either what the Lord was saying was TRUE and I could believe it or I could choose to not believe it. If I chose to believe it then what would I say? My conclusion was I would say, "The Lord directs my steps"!
Since that time I have been doing a study on the book of Proverbs. I have been digging for wisdom and guess what I'm finding? Lots and lots of verses on how the Lord will direct our path, how our foot shall not slip, our path will be bright and get brighter and lots more!
Here's some great promises just from the first few chapters. (I will continue this study on proverbs in days to come, so stay tuned)
Here some great promises from Proverbs; if we seek after God's wisdom he says in Proverbs 2 "if we will recieve His words" v-1 He will "guard" our path (verse 1 & 8)
He said He we would "understand...every good path". (verse 9) This to me means that we'll see opportunity and be able to partake of it!
In verse 20, the promise is that we will "walk in the way of goodness... " and have "....paths of righteosness."
Her ways (Wisdom) are ways of pleasantness and all her paths are peace. (verse 17) If you're like me, I enjoy peace, and love to pleasantness! Makes me want to seek for more wisdom!
Verse 26 says that "He will keep our foot from being caught." Isn't that a wonderful promise. We don't have to worry as we walk down the paths of life that our foot will be caught in a trap. As a child I remember my brothers catching wild animals in a traps and it wasn't a pleasant sight. Expecially when they were still alive and screaming!
"I have taught you in the way of wisdom, I have led you in the right paths." Proverbs 4:11. The Lord will "led us in the RIGHT PATH!" What a great promise.
Verse 12 "When you walk your step will not be hindered and when you run you will not stumble."
v-19 "The path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines brighter unto the perfect day. When our paths are bright, it's easy to see and follow. That means we will have clarity of purpose and be able to walk with confidence. It gets better all the time.
Now, at almost "50", I choose to believe that these are truths for my life. You can choose them for your life if you want too! He said "Ask for wisdom and he would give it to us liberally!" (See James)
This doesn't mean I don't have my moments when I get into my head and try and figure God out! That's why He told me in Proverbs 3:5 "...lean not to your own understanding." I like to be in control, and this doesn't always compute—if you know what I mean!
Something to ponder...
Until next time...

I just read your article, and hopefully you still get on and check out your comments. I dont see any comments, so I wanted to write you and pick your knowledge a bit. My name is AJ, im 23 years old and out of all the web posts I have been searching the subject one yours brought the most enlighting to me. Heres a little aboput me, Im currently on my second tour overseas, and I have been fighting with myself and family about my dreams and passions on persuing a curtain career. Since I was a kid I told myself i was going to be someone someday and do great things. This maybe crazy but lets start small. Does god path he guides us on, well does it always pertain to him somehow?? I ask this bc im very unsure about it all. Which brings me back to my dreams and passions. Like I said, I told myself every night when I was a child in bed im going to be great and do great things, I also told myself I was going to be a Nascar driver....I now sounds crazy right?? But is he truely leading me there or hinting to me?? I ask this due to the fact the whole reason I joined the serivce was to get welding and fabrication experiance to work on a race team starting in the shop of course and working my way up. That was completed!! Next after my first tour overseas i told myself I need another job, something hat I would enjoy doing and closer to my passion which is racing and cars. Well that came true as well.. I became a Car salesmen for over 1 yr, loved the job yet again I asked help guide me, and bluntly said "Just give me a sign show me what im here for" 1 wk later one of my customers i was working with at the dealership, asked me what I do in the military and I told him (welding and fabricating) well turns out he friend worked at Summit Aeronautics (they build and fabricate Boeing and DOD Aircraft parts). I again got the job. Now im very scared lol is he really leading me to my dreams?? Should i take it as a sign and go the next step?? Or is this where I should stay?? DOnt get me wrong its an amazing job and i love it, but is he telling me or guiding me to my dreams, or is it all just coincidence?? My family is very proud of me but there the ones that have kind pushed me away from my dreams, but is he pulling me toward them??
